Hi! I am Vitalijus Lukas

Founder of Smart Financial Steps, I help people to invest and manage their money.

With over a decade of experience in financial services I found I have a natural ability to emphasize with people of diverse backgrounds and help them navigate the complexities of their financial lives.

As an investment advisor and financial consultant, I have advised high-net-worth individuals and institutions worth billions of dollars. I have worked with global firms like Raymond James, Invesco and UBS Bank and with niche and boutique players like hedge funds.

Prior to founding Smart Financial Steps in 2020, I advised high-net worth individuals and families at a major Swiss investment bank and worked as an investment consultant and private wealth advisor at Raymond James and Invesco PowerShares exchange-traded funds (ETFs). I completed my Masters of Arts (MA) graduate degree in international relations at University of British Columbia and achieved Chartered Investment Manager (CIM ®) designation from the Canadian Securities Institute in Toronto. When not helping clients with their finances, you will find me enjoying the great outdoors and playing tennis with my wife and daughter.

Why did I create Smart Financial Steps?

To be financially successful you must have clearly defined goals. My purpose is to help you identify and achieve those goals. I believe in providing personalized financial advice tailored to my clients unique circumstances. We start by discussing your goals, dreams, values, and anything else that matters to you and your family. I focus on safety and liquidity, considering your investment knowledge and unique tax situation, and making sure that your savings are always earning a rate of return above inflation.

Without smart money management, it is estimated that 70% of wealthy families will lose their wealth by the second generation and 90% will lose it by the third generation1. That’s why the wealthy individuals surround themselves with an army of advisors, attorneys and accountants and become even wealthier as a result.

In contrast, the rest of the population spends a disproportionately little amount of time and resource managing their money.

With the mission of educating people about money, investing and financial planning, the idea of Smart Financial Steps was born during the Covid-19 pandemic. During that time, I connected with many people from all walks of life and income sizes and felt there was a real need for tailored, one-on-one advice without complicated industry jargon or sales pitches.
